We started our day as we do every day: Luna and I walk together. It was still a bit dark, but just a block away was a cute little school we could jaunt around.

I know, not the best photo ever, but it's for inclusionary purposes only.
When we returned to our Best Value, Jason was already packing up the car. It was about 50 degrees, and some foggy mist was around. We felt a little alone in the world except for the fact that the No Vacancy sign was now illuminated and the tiny parking lot was filled. That car show was filling up the city!
We had only 3.5 hours to go which meant about 4 stops for me to have to pee...
Have you ever noticed that the United States has some really nice Rest Areas? I mean, they all have their personalities, I suppose, but some are so so pretty. Our first stop in Colorado was a Rest Area.

The view from the pet exercise trail

I just thought this was fun. I'd never seen a grey cricket before. I think it hopped to my black pants because it was so freaking cold out on the plains...

How often do you take family photos at Rest Areas?!?
Luna and I will pose and smile for a photo anywhere.
Once we arrived in Boulder, we decided to drive by our rental just to locate it because we couldn't check in until 3pm. Jason's quote: "That's a *#+^ed looking house." Oh no. I didn't want him to be disappointed AGAIN!!!

We had some things we could do until check in and we did every single one:
1. Hike a short trail...no name, just a little trail along a gorgeous river along a super busy road. Loved it.

Jason said Luna got a little crabby when I ran to get the camera...we don't like to be apart!
We'd been inseparable for about 42 hours...the 47 second separation was good for both of us.

But then...we just like being together...even when we're boiling hot in the boiling hot Boulder sun!
2. Visited one of Jason's favorite bike shops - University Bicycles in Downtown Boulder. It became one of mine too because the staff said Luna could come in and everyone there loved her up...of course.

Last thing in the world we need, but some things you just gotta have.
We're on vacation!
3. Went shopping at Whole Foods. Had to make chicken quesadillas for dinner. It's a vacation tradition. And, because of all of our food needs, we need more than those ingredients. It's so good to have a grocery store you love when you're on a trip...
Jason and Luna found some shade and hung out while I whipped around the insanely busy store. With all that accomplished, we headed to our rental, and it received Jason's approval. Whew.

The doorway to enter the "Artist's Apartment" is to the right...you can't see it in this picture, but that's where it is...

Jason's description of the tile is " *#+^ed up," but the shower is "macho" because it is lined in galvanized steel.

This bed is so comfortable. If the memory foam top didn't make Luna so hot, she might not leave it...
The day ended early for me and Luna. We were just so so tired. I'd like to think I'm more adaptable. I don't know if it was the high altitude, less activity, not enough water, or what, but my blood sugar was wacky and it was best for us to go to bed. Luna had to go outside at about 4am, but we slept fairly well for about 10.5 hours. That's a record. We're ready for Day 3!!!
